Description

WALRUS IVORY FOSSIL WITH SCRIMSHAW

This is a natural walrus ivory fossil with a sketching done on it by native eskimos in Alaska.Unique when set in jewellery.

Weights 6.70 ct app

Size 20 x 14 x 3 mm app

This is a Pre-1972 white walrus ivory tusks, Eskimo worked tusks, fossil walrus ivory and teeth for carving and scrimshaw, and walrus oosik. Walrus ivory has an outer layer called cementum or bark that covers the chatoyant ("having a changeable, varying luster or color, like that of a changeable silk, or of a cat's eye in the dark") dentine (ivory) and in the center of the tusk is the core or secondary dentine that makes it unique among ivories. The core is not porous and looks like globules of dentine with varying degrees of opaqueness/ transparency.

Why are users outbidding themselves?

Automatic Bid icon
Automatic Bid

When a bid is placed, this is the maximum amount a person is willing to bid for the product. Our system will then automatically bid on behalf of the bidder, incrementally increasing the bid up to the maximum to maintain their position as the highest bidder.

When there is an icon indicating 'Automatic Bid', it means our system is actively placing bids for the bidder based on their maximum bid. This may appear as if bidders are outbidding themselves, but it's simply a result of the system updating the bid to reflect the bidders maximum limit.
