The name originated from the Greek word ‘Chrysos’ meaning gold, and ‘Kolla’ meaning glue. The name was given as the gemstone was utilised a gold soldering agent in ancient Egypt and was believed to be the ‘stone of intelligence’. It was often used during times of negotiations. The first known used of Chrysocolla was in 315 B.C by Theophrastus, a Greek philosopher and botanist. Cleopatra was known to have used Chrysocolla in her jewelry.
